Happy New Year, friends! After a wee break, I was so excited to get back to Red Pony and see what was in! The shop is filled with silk, sweater dresses and size tens!
This amazing wool coat from Oak+Fort was on the Red Pony Instagram and it is so beautiful! I tried this on for you, and I have to report that this one is very, very roomy, but the cut of the shoulder is made for a small. It is super comfortable and definately worth a try-on no matter your usual Oak+Fort size.
And also on our Instagram was the super cool stranger Maggie in her "second wife chique" outfit, featuring her step-mother's coat. If you want to be as cool as her, we have the perfect coat! Canadian and so soft; I know you can pull this look off!
So friends, I binge watched season 2 of The Crown while stress-knitting the day before Christmas(!!!) because the security guards at the Mexican airport would not let me board the plane with my needles, and I lost 5 hours of precious knitting time. ANYWAYS, have you watched it yet? Barring a -45 cold-snap during which time I wore jeans (that's denim pants. Me. Pants!), I now spend all my time pretending to be Princess Margaret! I put these leopard print beauties on and pranced around the shop doing my best Princess Margaret pouts, sighs and eye-rolls until my toes went numb because these Cole Haans were totally too small for me!
I assumed that this beautiful dress was made of silk, and I even had an egotistical moment where I wasn't even going to check (shame on me!), but you won't believe it: it's made of tencel! Our favorite, sustainably-made fabric!
What really elevates this dress, though, is the construction and design. The top of the dress as a built-in bustier (with boning! No cutting corners here!) and cut-outs throughout the floral/woodsy motif. You might have to look closely on the picture, since everything is white, but on a real human I'm certain this dress would come alive!
Other than being hand-made and one-of-a-kind, do I even need to point out what else makes this skirt so cool? Um, bikes!
Blue, eco-conscious El Naturalistas:
Something totally different from Anthropologie:
Really friends, we have lots of knit and sweater dresses in the shop right now. Both of these yoke dresses are wool!
Check out the back on the brown one:
Weeeeeeeeee! Camper twins! These flats go together, but they are not totally identical. Have fun gazing at them and spotting their little differences!
A gorgeous, vintage Ralph Lauren wool cardigan:
And check out the lovely mother-of-pearl buttons!
According to the tag, Zara is calling this "outerwear". As it's felted wool, I think of this as more of a layering-item, and it definately falls into my "lab coat" category!
Since I am on a restricted purse regime, I had to resist this envelope purse....but it was hard! There is something very grown-up about this purse! Do you think Princess Margaret had one like it?!
Ooooooo, I do love a dress masquerading as a two-piece!
I think we've seen this Wilfred tunic before, but this one is vegan!
There is actually a lot going on with these nude shoes: bit of a platform, suede on the heel, and the slingback is an unexpected thicker strap (very edgy!).
You know this t-shirt is perfect for someone:
It's a bit summery, but I couldn't resist! Vintage, stretchy and....
....horseshoes! Who can resist!
We had a lovely little vacation in Mismaloya, Mexico. We stayed at a charming, locally owned hotel (Casa Iguana), and it was great to feel the sun and play on the beaches! But, of course, it's not a true family vacation unless your child cries over every dish of local cuisine put in front of her!
Here's the giant jungle spider on our bathroom window. (It was on the outside of the pane, but still eeeeeeeeeeeek!)
Here's a shot with a little shampoo bottle (and Freya's head) for proportion so you can get a sense of how big and creepy the thing was!
Really, it was great trip! And I'm so excited for 2018! Happy New Year, friends!
